Yoishi and Kyoko Sato
Yoshiaki and Kyoko Sato are a Japanese couple that nothing predestined for viticulture. Investment bankers, working in finance, their interest for wine started from a random bottle bought on their way home from work... When they moved to London, they spend all their weekends in France and understood that wine was no longer just a hobby in their life. They then began a viti-oeno training and did their internships with Jean-Yves Bizot and Pierre Frick, in Burgundy and Alsace. Finally, they set sail for the South Island of New Zealand, in the region of Central Otago, optimal for the cultivation of Pinot Noir. After a stint at Felton Road and Mount Edward Wines, Yoshi and Kyoko set up a quality negoce in 2009: Sato Wines was born. In 2015, the couple acquired five hectares of vines on the slopes of Mont Pisa, and harvested their first fruits in 2018. The results in the bottle are very precise, between Japanese purity, Burgundy classicism and New World exotism.
