With notes of black fruits, and fine tannins, this is a generic Burgundy that is anything but generic – a Pinot that ticks all the boxes! The 2017 vintage requires a little patience, but you will be amply rewarded for your patience... Decanting is essential.
Maryse Chatelin produces wines of a great finesse, which showcase a true elegance, just in her image. A confidential cuvée that Pinot Noir lovers have been collecting and tasting for a few years now. Indeed, after working for many vintages with his partner Alexandre Jouveaux (also present in the casting of Pur Jus winemakers) Maryse got the opportunity to buy a small parcel among woodland outside the village of Uchizy. This is 2012... the Domaine des Fauvettes was born! A great importance is given to the viticulture, Maryse collaborated with no less than seventeen nurserymen from Savoie, German Mosel, Alsace and Côte d’Or for the massale selection of her 2.5 ha of Pinot Noir. The first vintage was released in 2015, with the same natural philosophy than Jouveaux. Today, the couple still works together but “Maryse works for Alexandre and Alexandre works for Maryse!”. Truly a great pair in life... and in wine!
A generic Burgundy that is anything but generic... This is fruity, mineralesque juice, with notes of candied cherry and blueberry. It’s brimming with character and yet very smooth, well balanced and elegant on the palate – a great discovery. Worth decanting.
