L'Intrus Viognier - 2018 - Tomoko Kuriyama et Guillaume Bott

A slightly more rock'n'roll style, with notes of tangerine, honeysuckle, and rosebuds on the nose… The palate is round, powerful, and floral, with tannins that are not overbearing but which structure the wine perfectly.

An Intrus! (intruder in French)... so named because the grapes were bought outside Burgundy! This 100% Viognier cuvée is made from 20-year-old vines farmed organically and planted at 400 metres altitude on pebbled soils similar to those of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The grapes were harvested by hand and then vinified at the estate in Burgundy. Vinification: 10 days of carbonic maceration in whole bunches, followed by a light crushing and gentle pressing, and 10 months of maturation. No fining, very light filtration and a microdose of sulphur at bottling.
