Mtsvane Amber - 2017 - Niki Antadze
A very floral nose of jasmine and peony, with hints of orange blossom. A bouquet accompanied by bitter oranges, and vineyard peaches... The palate: the tannins are present, as is often the case with this style of vinification, with lovely structure and a mineral finish. Worth decanting.

100% Mtsvane from vines farmed organically and planted in the prestigious Manavi appellation, in the Kakheti region, at 750 metres altitude. Vinification: the grapes are lightly crushed, then macerated and fermented in qvevris, these traditional Georgian amphorae buried up to their necks in the ground. And obviously there is zero filtration, zero fining, zero sulphur, the juices are moved by gravity, the labels glued by hand, etc., etc...
Niki Antadze is a leading figure in Georgian natural wine. A former nightclub owner, this remarkable character, as calm and gentle as a lamb, is now the head of a tiny estate with just three hectares of Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane and Saperavi located in Manavi, in the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia. From his small vineyard of old vines (some of them more than 100 years old) planted at 750 metres...All wines
