A 100% País cuvée, from 200-year-old vines. Laja is the name of a city located at the end of the Rio Laja, where its waters flow into the Rio Biobio. The Pipeño wines are made using the most traditional Chilean practices, meaning the harvest is first treaded by foot, then destemmed by hand over a “zaranda”(a screen made of Chilean coligüe– a kind of bamboo), and finally vinified in a “lagar” (an open vat). The wine is then stored in “pipas”,which gives us the name Pipeño.
Louis-Antoine Luyt was born in the Breton coastal city of Malouin some forty years ago. Following a handful of formative viticultural experiences alongside the likes of Philippe Pacalet and Marcel Lapierre, he finally moved to Chili, and settled in Cauquenès, a province in the region of Maule, 400 km south of Santiago de Chile.
