Rkatsiteli - 2017 - Niki Antadze
A nose with notes of orange peel, limoncello, dried apricot, and almonds... Altogether it’s intense but luscious. Palate: lively, with a lot of structure and a saline finish. A fine introduction to Georgian wines.

100% Rkatsiteli, from 50-year-old vines grown organically and planted in the prestigious Manavi appellation, at 750 metres altitude. In the winery: direct pressing for almost the entire harvest, except for 10% of the grapes left in whole bunches and used to infuse the wine with the skins. Fermentation takes place in qvevris, these traditional Georgian amphorae buried up to their necks in the ground. And obviously there is zero filtration, zero fining, zero sulphur, the juices are moved by gravity, the labels glued by hand, etc., etc...
Niki Antadze is a leading figure in Georgian natural wine. A former nightclub owner, this remarkable character, as calm and gentle as a lamb, is now the head of a tiny estate with just three hectares of Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane and Saperavi located in Manavi, in the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia.
