The Gavenat négociant project came together naturally in response to the very low yields of recent vintages. Jean François Ganevat and his sister Anne decided to gather together vigneron friends who share the same conception of natural wine growing. Madelon is made up of 75% Gamay, from 40-year-old vines grown in the Morgon region of Beaujolais, and 25% old, ungrafted Jura grape varieties such as Trousseau and Enfariné. Vinification: low temperature semi-carbonic maceration with indigenous yeasts, followed by 10 months of maturation in truncated conical vats – all without sulphur.

Jean-François Ganevat represents the 14 th  generation of vignerons of his family in Rotalier, in the south of Jura. After years working as the cellar master of Jean-Marc Morey in Chassagne-Montrachet, he took over his family’s estate in 1998.
