Côte Rôtie "Les Binardes" - 2018 - Jean Michel Stephan
A complex, powerful, spicy wine with notes of black fruits, violets and liquorice. On the palate, it’s fresh, smooth, and well balanced. A very beautiful expression of the Syrah grape, with lovely minerality. It’s superb – and it’s natural.

Formerly known as the "Nature" cuvée, it’s now named for its single vineyard origin: "Les Binardes" on the Côte Blonde, under "Tupin", a terraced terroir of granite and gneiss, with slopes as steep as 40%. This cuvée is made up of 90% cloned Syrah planted in 1986 and 10% Viognier from massal selection. Aged 12 months in stainless steel tanks, with zero sulphur.
