A superb, racy wine... The palate is complex with lovely density, and a saline finish. A cuvée that's far more precise compared to previous vintages. A slender, tense juice.
A blend of 70% Grenache Gris and 30% Macabeu. From century-old vines planted at 400 metres altitude on schist soils, surrounded by garrigue. The estate is certified organic and uses biodynamic farming techniques. Vinification: vertical pressing, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, fermented and matured for 9 months in casks and in 500-litre demi-muid barrels. Unfiltered, unfined, bottled on the 29th of March 2022, zero sulphur added!
Tom Lubbe hails from South Africa. In France, he was one of the finest students of Gérard Gauby , thanks to whom he met Nathalie, Gérard’s sister, with whom he settled in 2001 in Calce, in a still unspoilt environment, where they founded the Domaine Matassa. After starting out small, the estate would slowly grow in size. Tom would acquire old, high altitude parcels where he produces...
