From a parcel of very old Carignan (planted in 1900) and 25% Grenache Blanc and Gris, planted at 700 metres altitude on marl terraces. The estate is certified organic and uses biodynamic techniques. Tom Lubbe and Gérard Gauby are brothers-in-law and neighbours. The grapes are harvested by hand. Vinification: a short maceration (4 days) with whole bunches of grapes and indigenous yeasts, followed by maturation for 10 months in demi-muid barrels. Unfiltered, and zero sulphur.

Tom Lubbe hails from South Africa. In France, he was one of the finest students of Gérard Gauby, thanks to whom he met Nathalie, Gérard’s sister, with whom he settled in 2001 in Calce, in a still unspoilt environment, where they founded the Domaine Matassa.
