A Syrah all about immediate pleasure, driven by its fruit —especially black cherry and raspberry—with a touch of pepper and florals. A delicious wine, extremely easy drinking, an ideal companion for a lovely spring day.
René-Jean Dard & François Ribo
René-Jean Dard and François Ribo, two famously reserved vignerons from Mercurol, north of Valence, founded their estate in 1984. Started from just a single hectare, the estate is today composed of 9 hectares of vines, with parcels in the appellations of Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage and Hermitage. The wines produced are always of uniform quality, with tremendous work put into their single vineyard cuvées (one soil + one grape variety = one cuvée). Their methods have gone unchanged for the last 30 years: non-interventionists, 10% of the grapes are trodden by foot, no additives are used, a long decanting period is used in place of filtering, and no sulphur is added. The estate’s winepress dates back to 1955, which was bought from Prieuré-Roch in 1992. We’re a world away from the classic, massive Rhône style here. The wines always show brilliantly in their youth, driven by their fruit and freshness, but they also age divinely! The estate’s wines are highly sought out by connoisseurs, for their exquisite drinkability!
An eminently drinkable Syrah, delicious and generous... Palate: freshness, finesse, fruit, and a finish with notes of spice.
An indulgent, generous nose with notes of yellow fruits, pear and honey… The palate is rich, concentrated and highly aromatic, with a lovely roundness, beautifully balanced by a remarkable freshness, finishing on hints of candied citrus.
A powerful, complex nose with notes of white peach, cherry pits, Mirabelle plum, and white flowers... Palate: generous, with lovely volume and a long, saline finish. Each vintage, this is an incredibly balanced cuvée.
Surprising nose of exotic fruits (pineapple, papaya, dried mango...) and lemon pie, with mineral notes... Palate: balanced and rich, with a finish marked by lovely bitter notes and a touch of acidity. Don't drink this bottle too quickly! The wine evolves superbly after breathing a good hour.
A stunning cuvée with a complex, ever-evolving nose, revealing ripe fruits, pear compte, Mirabelle plum, elderflower, and hints of butter, honey, and vanilla. On the palate: dense and profound, with fine, structured bitters and a long, lingering finish.
An eminently drinkable Syrah, delicious and generous... Palate: freshness, finesse, fruit, and a finish with notes of spice.
"Nomiyasui" in Japanese, translates as “easy to drink”. The perfect definition for a Syrah with perfect structure, fruit, and extreme deliciousness. A cuvée which will always be unanimously appreciated by your guests. One of our favourites, year after year!
