A 100% Chenin cuvée. From vineyards planted in 1972, facing north on a soil of granite and quartz, located in the Paardeberg, a mountainous region 50 km northeast of Cape Town. The vines are cultivated organically and biodynamically to favour biodiversity, without irrigation or chemicals, and yields of 25 hl/ha... Vinification is in the same spirit: no artifice, limited extraction, low alcohol... Direct pressing, fermentation (including malolactic) and maturation in old 500-litre barrels. A pinch of sulphur at bottling, and basta! No filtration.

Craig Hawkins
Craig Hawkins and his wife Carla live in the mountainous region of Paardeberg north of Cape Town. The estate was founded in 2008 with 10 ha of rented vines, while Craig continued to glean as much knowledge as possible from such winemakers as Eben Sabie (star of South African wine) and Thomas Lubbe of Domaine Matassa, himself a South African. Then, in 2014 the Hawkins purchased 8 ha of vines....
