Sulphites-free wine

Bordeaux

Confluence - 2021 - Antonin Jamois

L'Ile Rouge

A wine of unique personality, with a nose of cherry, blackcurrant and redcurrant, plus lovely toasted notes. The palate is fluid, with tannins that accompany the fruit without getting in the way. A very lovey cuvée – a testament to what Bordeaux can be without all the sulphur!

A blend of Merlot and the ultra rare Castets grape, both from vines farmed organically and planted in 2001 on shallow clay-limestone soils. Antonin has been grafting his Castets onto Merlot vines since 2017. The grapes were harvested by hand, on the 19th and 23rd of September. The two grape varieties were vinified separately (with the Castets macerated 8 days and the Merlot 10) then matured 12 months in barrels that have seen two wines, and blended in vats one month before bottling. Neither fined nor filtered, and no added sulphur.

Antonin Jamois

Antonin Jamois, born in 1979 and originally from Paris, was in no way predestined to become a winegrower... After studying agronomy, he left for Argentina and Brazil, then settled for 10 years in Madagascar (hence the name of the Estate!) where he worked as an aquaculturist and as a scuba diver. It is the birth of his daughter that motivates him to come back to France in 2014. Antonin returns...
