Scharzhofberger Spätlese - 2018 - Egon Muller
Domaine Egon Muller
A very clear juice, with citrus and floral notes... Palate: a Riesling that’s sweeter than Kabinett, more corpulent and complex, boasting another level of minerality and balance, and a very long finish.

A 100% Riesling cuvée from old vines planted on schist, fruit of the famous Scharzhofberger vineyard and its extreme slopes. The soil is ploughed up to six times a year, harvesting is done by hand, and yields are controlled. Spätlese means late harvest, but with Muller it can mean an over-ripe harvest yet not necessarily late. Vinification is traditional and minimalist, with direct and quick pressing, settling after 24 hours, and maturation in barrels. This is why Muller’s wines represent the quintessence of Riesling throughout the world.
