Crushing, fermentation, and distillation of pure cane juice—100% red cane. Made from an agricol white rum, aged for more than three years—80% in ex-Sauternes barrels and 20% in new American oak barrels—then blended from these rums aged for more than three years.
Papillon is the new range of agricultural rums from the Longueteau Distillery, one of Guadeloupe’s oldest family-owned businesses, founded in 1895 and renowned for its artisanal expertise and the quality of its rums. Today, it comprises nearly 100 hectares consisting of 12 sugarcane fields, 3 wine cellars, and the distillery. Inspired by the island’s butterfly-shaped silhouette (Papillon means butterfly in French), this collection showcases the richness of Guadeloupe’s terroirs through a blend of several sugarcane varieties and meticulous aging processes, sometimes venturing off the beaten path. Crafted with the same high standards as the Longueteau cuvées, Papillon rums offer a generous, authentic, and approachable style, ideal for discovering the full expression of Guadeloupean agricultural rum.
