Roussillon
A very expressive nose, driven by red fruit aromas... On the palate: fruity, crisp, fresh, a powerful sensation of purity. Immediate pleasure – this is some genuine juice!
A blended cuvée: Syrah and Merlot. From century-old vines, grown on clayey soil, in the commune of Trouillas. The yields are low, and both the vines and the vinifications are managed naturally. Semi-carbonic maceration, and a very short maturation in old barrels. The wine is neither fined, nor filtered, bottled without added sulphur.
Alain Castex, an iconic figure in the region of Banyuls and Roussillon, produced wines of another era. He refused to use any oenological additives. Producing in small volumes, his wines had always been ultra-confidential, at most 5000 bottles in the biggest years. Such is the fruit of this impassioned winemaker’s labours, this uncompromising and extremely meticulous man. Le Casot des Mailloles...
