Sulphites-free wine

La Montagne du Scarabée Solera - Jérôme François et Morgane Stoquert

La Grange de L'oncle Charles

Hypnotic, with notes of mirabelle plum, hazelnut and curry. During blind-tasting, we put it somewhere between a Vin Jaune and a peated whisky! Rich, structured, concentrated, voluminous, saline, we find the oxidative markers of the nose... a wine for meditation. A rare bottle.

Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewuztraminer and Muscat, from biodynamically-grown vines planted on parcels classified as Grand Cru Kaefferkopf, showing granitic and clay soils. Harvested by hand. Vinification: direct pressing, transfer into barrels for fermentation and oxidative aging, without ouillage (i. e. without topping them up), blending of 2018, 2020 and 2021 vintages, with a maximum of 50 months of aging. Bottled at the estate in November 2022 without fining or filtration, with no added sulfites.

Jérôme François settled in Ostheim in 2014. The young carpenter couldn’t resist the call of the vine and started his estate with a few plots from his grandfather and the barn of his great uncle! Late 2017, Jérôme teamed up with Yann Bury. The man grows his vines biodynamically, and works the soil not with a tractor but with two horses, Sirus and Fastochex. A flock of black Ouessant sheep...
