100% Pinot Noir from the oldest vines of the estate to which we cannot give a precise age, but probably around 90 years old. They are planted on a very specific plot, sandstone soils with the presence of calcareous-sandstone puddingstones. Manual harvesting and natural vinification: 8 weeks of maceration in whole bunches, gentle pressing in a vertical press, one year of aging in a small cask, on the lees. Bottled at the estate without fining, filtration or addition of sulfites.
Jean-François Ginglinger, a 100% natural vigneron based in Pfaffenheim, south of Colmar, took over his father’s estate in 1999. In cultivating this 6-hectare estate, a third of which is classified Grand Cru Steinert, Ginglinger continues an ancient tradition – his family has been continuously making wine in the region since 1610.
