100% Gamay, this cuvée comes from a selection of the oldest vines from the “Côte du Py” plots, more than 100 years old, and planted on decomposing granite and manganese soils. Jean has farmed organically from the beginning but has never sought certification. As for the rest, its tradition at work: harvesting by hand, vinification of whole bunches, cold carbonic maceration, maturation in barrels without new oak for 9 months. Bottled without fining nor filtration, just a micro-dose of sulphur.

Jean Foillard, P'tit Jean to his friends, joined his family’s estate of 8 hectares in 1981. Son and grandson of vignerons, one could say it was simply in the order of things that he’d return to the fold. Today, the renown of his wines has made him a revered giant of Beaujolais. At the celebrated Côte de Py vineyard site, Jean creates natural wines while following the precepts of Jules Chauvet....
