A red pet'nat! A very pronounced nose of red fruits and spices, a highly refreshing, very lively palate, and a fresh, slightly tannic finish.
Antony Tortul
Antony Tortul from La Sorga is an emblematic figure of French natural wine! As a negociant, he vinifies and ages wines from Gaillac to Chateauneuf-du-Pape, with the Languedoc being his favourite playground. When it comes to buying grapes, he travels the South of France looking for beautiful terroirs invariably farmed organically or biodynamically. What follows are simple, respectful, non-interventionist vinifications. Every wine is produced practically without any sulphur, fermentations are low temperature, the final pressed juices are always set aside, maturations are long and in old barrels, etc... In other words, a man of considerable good sense! La Sorga exists since 2018, and we’ve seen an impressive number of cuvées at Pur Jus, for wines that are always punk and free, which each time take us on a journey, sometimes off the beaten track. Antony is a nomadic négociant, searching for an ideal, full of vitality and in perpetual movement – like the juice he bottles. As he himself puts it: FRENCH WINE'S NOT DEAD!
Notes of soft spices, bergamot, beeswax, grapefruit, mango... Full and long on the palate, with a little maceration and a finish on vine peach aromas.
In the words of Antony: "The nose is full of citrus fruits, pineapple, white fruits, thyme and the briny notes so characteristic of this maritime terroir, while the palate is lemony and salty, pure and mineralesque, with a crazy tension and a finish on pear notes."
A few words from Antony: "The nose is a fruit bomb, with notes of citrus, raspberry, and cherry, and the palate attacks with red fruits and citrus fruits, and finishes with notes of rose and peony – extremely distinguished stuff!".
A completely different profile for this vintage: notes of garrigue, kirsch, blood orange, white pepper... Fine, delicate and precise on the palate, with great depth, but also a minerality typical of these great schist terroirs.
Powerful nose with notes of morello cherry, cranberry, raspberry, musk, camphor, undergrowth... Palate: round, velvety, persistent, with a floral finish. BRUTAL!!!
A few words from Antony: "An aromatic nose of hawthorn, pineapple and saffron, very chalky, a very taut, straightforward, slightly tannic palate, with exotic fruit on the palate contrasting with incredible drinkability due to low alcohol."
Fragrant nose with notes of pear and white peach, a mineral framework and a small bouquet of white flowers. Palate: lovely freshness, a taut, energetic juice, highly drinkable thanks to its low alcohol degree. No need to stay calm with Calmos!
Nose of lemon, pear, anise... Fine, lively bubbles. Taut, mineral, complex and profound on the palate. Always a great success.
Antony's tasting note: "A nose that couldn't be more mineral, citrus, white fruit; the palate is terribly lively, long, with a magnificent finesse of bubbles, and a stony finish..." No explanation of the cuvée's name, but we're converted to this divine pet' nat'!
Antony's tasting note: "A nose of red fruits, wild strawberry, cherry, but also white pepper and peony, a supple attack with well-rounded, fluid tannins, aromatic of blood orange, young vines yet already deep with a certain length."
A few words from Antony: "The nose is smoky, with raspberry, strawberry and cinnamon notes... The palate is very mineral, fresh, a bomb of red fruit, with a very acidic finish, typical of the grape variety but also of these high-altitude terroirs."
Here's what the winemaker has to say about it: "A rich, complex nose with black fruits, chocolate, peony and white pepper. The palate is full-bodied but terribly drinkable, long and with good ageing potential."
A white wine that’s almost orange, and almost oxidative... with notes of exotic fruits, dried banana, and curry. Palate: rich, full, aromatic, with tension, length, and a complex finish... Worth aging in your cellar!
Complex nose with notes of apricot, white peach, pear, white flowers, tarte tatin, honey... The palate matches the nose, full-bodied and very mineral, with low tannin and fine acidity.
