Nose of juicy cherry, raspberry, with a little leafy touch… The palate is round, supple, bursting with fruit. In Fred’s own words: “The fruit, the glou, antidote and homeopathy all at once, thirst quencher, pleasure without moderation.”
Frédéric Sigonneau
Fred is an ardent history buff, but in the end, it was in wine where found his calling. After three years of viticulture studies, he decided to set sail for Spain and the region of Ribera del Duero. Fuelled by friendships, new meetings, and stories shared, Fred is a man of sincerity and spirit, who fills his every day with passion.
In 2004, he finally returned to Cravant where took over the family vineyard, the beginning of a vast undertaking. Fred was determined to farm like his elders had in the 1950s, before the advent of chemical treatments. And with time, his vines regained their equilibrium. Even if it means more constraints and lower yields, Fred remains perfectly content with his chosen approach to winegrowing: biodynamics. The estate is located on the right bank of the Vienne, and today is composed of 8 hectares, with vines around 60 years old.
Deep, intense red robe. A fine, elegant nose opening on aromas of small red fruits—strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant... The palate shows great complexity, with silky, well-coated tannins, carried by a very pretty length that lingers on slightly roasted, toasty notes.
An intense red robe. Powerful nose with red fruit and toasted aromas, a touch of wood... Palate: sensual, fruity, and positively Burgundy-esque... Generous mouth feel. You need to forget this bottle for a few years in your cellar, you will be rewarded!
A dark red robe. A nose with aromas of red fruits (raspberry, cherry). Palate: fruity, lightly sparkling, with a lingering finish. Fred says this “unconventional cuvée” stands for “purity, roots and the raw and unadulterated.” Captain Harlock drinks it for breakfast!
A Boire meaning... Drink Up!!! The title says it all! Pop the cork and dive straight into this low-alcohol Grolleau that floods the glass with super fresh, juicy red fruits. A pure delight, so smashable and thirst-quenching, yet with real depth, again and again!
The typical framework of a "real pure Chinon" as Fred tells us, a complex nose with notes of redcurrant and a mineral touch. Palate: finesse and elegance, beautifult length, a nice aperitif juice that will also match perfectly for the rest of the dinner! To be served chilled.
An intense red robe. Powerful nose with red fruit and toasted aromas... Palate: round, fruity, with soft tannins... Lovely length. A Chinon that will age beautifully, to drink with food!
An extremely well-made Chenin, with aromas of pear, quince and citrus fruits, beautiful chalky note... Palate: dense and mineral, with lovely tension. Fred is truly a man who knows how to make a white wine!
