A nose with notes of sour cherries, redcurrant jelly, and flowers... The palate is delicate, elegant, and fruity, with lovely acidity – beware Le Bastard goes down terribly easy!
Marin Fumey
Marin Fumey, a young purebred Jura winegrower, has always bathed in Vin Jaune! His parents Adeline and Raphaël founded the estate in 1986 with only 56 acres of vines. While it remains a family affair, today Fumey-Chatelain totals sixteen hectares of vines in the process of being converted to organics. More recently, it was the arrival of their son Marin at the estate, in 2015, that gave it a new impetus. He learned with his parents, and went through the Beaune Viticulture-Oenology diploma, then left for Paris and worked at L’Ambassade de Bourgogne, where he trained his palate. It was during his Southern Hemisphere travels that he rediscovered a number of approaches, like the whole-bunches vinification in Australia at Spinifex Wine, or the tidying of the vineyard as if it was garden at Burn Cottage Vineyard in New-Zealand, or at Alheit Vineyards in South Africa where he refined the vinification of the whites. A maturity that is reflected in the juices, and an estate to follow very, very closely.

A Chardonnay with finesse and purity, with aromas of white fruit, almonds in the shell and subtle mineral notes. The palate is fluid and smooth, with both acidity and roundness, and a great deal of pleasure for the price. Bravo Marin!
