Valle di Mare - 2021 - Comte Abbatucci
Jean-Charles Abbatucci
Probably our biggest tasting emotion for a while. Complex nose on notes of blackcurrant and raspberry, with iodine on top. Palate: concentrated, juicy and luscious, with a big shiny fruit and fine, silky tannins. A persistent and saline finish that lengthens the palate and the emotion.

100% Carcajolo Nero from biodynamically farmed vines planted on a terroir of granitic sand. Since 2016, they’ve also been treated with seawater — a true long-term experiment and close monitoring on this very plot! Hand-harvested. Vinification: work by gravity, destemming, several weeks’ maceration with alternating punch-downs and pump-overs, ageing in foudres and demi-muids, then blended in stainless steel for three months. Bottled after filtration, with further ageing in the estate’s cellars.

Jean-Charles Abbatucci
Jean-Charles Abbatucci is the man at the head of this historic estate in southern Corsica, in the heart of the Taravo valley. Domaine Comte Abbatucci’s 18 hectares have been cultivated biodynamically since 2000, certified by DEMETER. The environment surrounding its vineyards is exceptional, and it is also why the site was chosen to host the Isle of Beauty’s conservatory of ancient grape...
