Masclaret - 2021 - Antonin Jamois
L'Ile Rouge
Mascarets are tidal bores common on the Gironde. Now imagine a claret wine with its own wave of freshness! A fruity, floral nose of grenadine, strawberry, and blackcurrant. The palate is supple and smooth—serve it chilled for aperitif! Presence of gas possible, shake or decant if you like.

100% Merlot from vines farmed organically and planted on shallow clay-limestone soils. Hand harvested in crates on September 4th and 5th. Vinification: whole grape bunches, crushed, are gravity fed for two nights of maceration, followed by gentle pressing, and blending of the free run and press juices, with spontaneous fermentation at a temperature maintained around 18°C. Matured for two-and-a-half months in stainless steel tanks, then bottled on December 3rd 2021 without fining or filtration, and no added sulphites.

Antonin Jamois
Antonin Jamois, born in 1979 and originally from Paris, was in no way predestined to become a winegrower... After studying agronomy, he left for Argentina and Brazil, then settled for 10 years in Madagascar (hence the name of the Estate!) where he worked as an aquaculturist and as a scuba diver. It is the birth of his daughter that motivates him to come back to France in 2014. Antonin returns...
