Patrick Bouju! At this point, he really needs no introduction… but ok, here’s a quick one: he is one of the most endearing and competent figures in the world of natural wine! Sincerity, kindness, generosity, modesty… There’s nothing you would want to change about him! He unites, brings people together and doesn’t hesitate to share advice. Patrick has vines spread out around several communes, and his oldest vines are 120 years old. He has preserved many old grape varietals in his parcels, such as Limberger, Mirefleurien, and multiple varieties of Gamay. Veritable antidotes to standardisation, these parcels co-planted with different grapes bring richness and complexity. Patrick didn’t succumb to the fad in Beaujolais for fruit bomb wines. Rather, he works to help each parcel express itself to the fullest, seeking minerality above all, even if his juice remains eminently lip smacking.. We adore the man, or as we say in French, “On AIME La BOHÈME!” Poetry lovers, grab your corkscrews.
A nose of small crushed red fruits, with notes of hazelnuts in their shells, and sweet spices... On the palate: beautiful freshness, a cuvée to share with friends, driven by its fruit flavours and balanced by its lovely acidity.
A nose with notes notes of raspberry, blackberry, tangy cherry, rosemary, slight touch of mushroom... Palate: loads of freshness, good acidity and tannins for a great structure. Tell your friend to bring a sausage to pair with!
A floral and fruity nose, with notes of black fruit compote. The palate is silky, soft and fluid, with light tannins that provide just enough structure. Very lovely length on the palate, and a fruity finish with a hint of leather. Worth decanting.
A beautiful cuvée for purists, with a nose of cherry stones, spices, and animal notes... On the palate: this is smooth and velvety juice, pure and deep, very fruit forward, with good concentration, and great length... Mellow tannins provide just enough structure. Worth decanting.
