A Pommard of great finesse, with a frank nose marked by raspberry and blackcurrant, and very fine tannins on the palate, far from the tannic power of certain wines of the appellation. Worth decanting in its youth to allow it to reveal all its complexity.
Boris Champy
Boris Champy, a child of the 1974 vintage, is at the helm of his eponymous estate in Nantoux, in the Hautes-Côtes-de-Beaune region. The winemaker's background is nothing short of admirable: originally from the Champagne region, he worked in Napa Valley for 10 years before becoming technical director of Louis Latour and then manager of Clos des Lambrays for many years. In fact, he pioneered biodynamic viticulture in the Grands Crus and also founded an association to protect the environment. Halfway through his life, he took over the Didier Montchovet estate and began the adventure of making wine under his own name. Already a small green paradise at the time, the estate is run according to biodynamic principles and goes even further with regenerative agriculture and a permaculture garden. All these practices are aimed at the same goal: producing top-quality grapes that "bring out the best in the parcels, taking advantage of microclimates, different exposures and other fascinating subtleties.”
