Hugues and Lucille Godmé
Hugues and Lucille Godmé, father and daughter, work hand in hand at the helm of their family-run Maison de Champagne. You may already know the name Hugues Godmé, a true pioneer of biodynamics in Champagne. He joined his parents' estate in 1978, following four generations before him, and left a lasting mark. In 2006, he put an end to chemical treatments, and the estate was later certified organic and biodynamic. Today, the estate spans 40 vineyard plots classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru across four villages of the Montagne de Reims: Verzenay, Verzy, Villers-Marmery, and Villedommange. A true mosaic: 3 ha of Chardonnay, 2.8 ha of Pinot Noir, and 1.8 ha of Pinot Meunier. In the cellar, wines are vinified with great precision and aged on laths in deep chalk cellars for anywhere from thirty months to over ten years. Lucille, child of the 1989 vintage, has joined the estate and now ensures brilliantly, the continuity of the Godmé style.
A few words from the estate: “A lively, thirst-quenching Champagne that doesn’t lack finesse or minerality. Its mouth-coating texture delivers great tension, supported by lovely fruit. Perfect as an apéritif.”
Complex nose with notes of lemon, flowers, and brioche — utterly seductive. On the palate, fine bubbles and lovely tension; the volume perfectly supports the layered aromatics through the mouth. A pure, mouthwatering finish. A striking and successful pairing with a seafood platter.
A nose of dried strawberry and whipped cream... you’ll want to dive right in! Hints of white flowers, redcurrant clafoutis, green tea, and lemon zest. Fine bubbles, a delicate, highly creamy texture — generous, balanced, with a long, indulgent and subtly saline finish.
Perfumed nose with notes of red berries: redcurrant, tart cherry, raspberry and cranberry, lifted by a touch of honey, chalky nuances and pastry notes. Lively effervescence, the palate is highly aromatic with a subtle mineral edge. Long, fresh and airy finish.
A true favourite — this is a gastronomic Champagne with fine bubbles and aromas of pear compote with cardamom, fresh almond, and buttery brioche. The palate is balanced, precise, delicate, and mineral, yet also rich and fleshy. A real success.
Meunier at its finest, revealing notes of pear, pineapple, yellow peach, toasted bread and a hint of vanilla. On the palate: pure pleasure, with a perfectly balanced texture between richness and freshness. Long finish, chalky and saline.
Between green apple and French toast, with a hint of marzipan along the way. On the palate: round and generous, yet balanced by a very fresh, mineral edge—surprisingly so for a Chardonnay. The tension is definitely there, with a long finish marked by evolving notes and a chalky touch.
An exceptional tasting—this is a Grand Cru, and you can feel it. Probably the most accomplished Champagne from Godmé. Salted butter caramel, almond, brioche, yellow peach... The mousse is incredibly fine, the palate powerful and creamy, yet fresh and mineral. Crafted for food pairings.
As always with Godmé, the tasting hits you hard — absolutely sublime in every way. Notes of tangy cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and grapefruit zest. A vinous, gastronomic Champagne with a creamy texture and an aromatic touch of mint.
Powerful nose of dried fruits, especially hazelnut and pecan, followed by green apple, apricot, and a generous slice of buttery brioche. On the palate: rich and ample with a vinous character, a saline finish, and a subtle hint of vanilla. A Champagne crafted for gastronomy.
