Hugues and Lucille Godmé
Hugues and Lucille Godmé, father and daughter, work hand in hand at the helm of their family-run Maison de Champagne. You may already know the name Hugues Godmé, a true pioneer of biodynamics in Champagne. He joined his parents' estate in 1978, following four generations before him, and left a lasting mark. In 2006, he put an end to chemical treatments, and the estate was later certified organic and biodynamic. Today, the estate spans 40 vineyard plots classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru across four villages of the Montagne de Reims: Verzenay, Verzy, Villers-Marmery, and Villedommange. A true mosaic: 3 ha of Chardonnay, 2.8 ha of Pinot Noir, and 1.8 ha of Pinot Meunier. In the cellar, wines are vinified with great precision and aged on laths in deep chalk cellars for anywhere from thirty months to over ten years. Lucille, child of the 1989 vintage, has joined the estate and now ensures brilliantly, the continuity of the Godmé style.
