Baptiste Olivier
Baptiste Olivier has been the co-pilot of Ad Fines since 2018, the tiny Luberon estate founded by Michel Rocher back in 1994. Though Baptiste hails from Léognan and cut his teeth in the U.S., Australia, and at Smith Haut Lafitte, his true passion lies with Rhône wines. After a career in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, joining the Ad Fines adventure became an obvious next step. This estate, based in Ménerbes, is made up of just three parcels—each under one hectare—where Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Northern Rhône Sérine (from massal selections in Côte-Rôtie) thrive. The first wines, produced in 2001, have never seen a drop of chemistry and were crafted under the guidance of some of the best minds in the field: Claude and Lydia Bourguignon for the soils, and Michel Tardieu for the winemaking. “Ad Fines” was the name of an ancient stop along the Roman Via Domitia near the estate, meaning “at the borders” in Latin—a perfect reflection of Michel Rocher’s philosophy: to push the boundaries of quality.
