Pascal Agrapart
Pascal Agrapart is one of the most respected winegrowers of the Côte des Blancs, based in Avize, at the helm of the eponymous Champagne house. He took over the family estate in 1984, becoming the third generation after Arthur and then Pierre Agrapart, the builder of this house founded at the end of the 19th century. Pascal belongs to the generation that reshaped grower Champagne by putting terroir back at the heart of wine style. He forged his vision through close contact with the plots and old Chardonnay vines from the Grand Crus of Avize, Cramant, Oger and Oiry. Working as a récoltant-manipulant (meaning that he doesn’t buy any grapes), he explored soil work early on, ploughing, local compost and indigenous yeasts, long before these practices came to the fore. Under his drive, and now with the support of his son Ambroise, the estate has established itself as a reference for terroir-driven Blancs de Blancs, straight, chalky and lightly dosed, helping to make Agrapart one of Champagne’s cult names.
