Florence et Benoît Chazallon

Florence and Benoît Chazallon, partners in life and in the vines, run Château de la Selve, a 13th-century estate in Grospierres, Ardèche. Benoît was almost destined to become a winemaker, coming from the great Rhône Valley family of growers, the Delas. He spent much of his teenage years among the vines and cellars of the Rhône. Florence is an oenologist, and together they took over this family property in 2002—more than 20 years ago now! Since then, the duo has dedicated themselves to serving their Ardèche terroir: first by converting to organic and biodynamic farming to let minerality and finesse shine through in the wines, then by working both single-vineyard plots and blends, and refining their aging with clay jars. Florence and Benoît also head Cros des Calades, their organic négociant project in IGP Méditerranée, vinified in Grospierres as well—great wines at friendly prices.
