Aurélien Verdet

Aurélien Verdet is a Burgundian vigneron based in Arcenant, in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, where he had already been developing his own estate before taking over Domaine de Chassorney, founded in 1996 by his longtime friend Frédéric Cossard. Deeply rooted in Burgundian culture, his approach has been shaped by hands-on experience and years of close collaboration with Cossard. Over the 2019, 2020 and 2021 vintages, he vinified in Cossard’s cellar, a transitional phase leading up to the official handover of the estate in 2022, when vinifications were moved to his own cellar in Arcenant. Domaine de Chassorney remains farmed organically, in keeping with its original philosophy, yet Aurélien brings his own signature by returning to ageing mainly in barrels, with a small proportion of new oak. His style delivers more readable, structured Burgundies, without giving up the vibrant fruit and energy of natural wines, ushering in a new chapter for Chassorney.
