Not varietal in the least, this Sauvignon charms with its clean, direct nose of grapefruit and white flowers. The palate follows through in harmony: light volume, supple texture, well-judged acidity, and a precise, tense, mineral-driven finish.
François Chidaine
François Chidaine is one of the most talented winemakers of his generation, a true Chenin master to whom the Montlouis-sur-Loire appellation owes a great deal. Son of winemakers, he founded his domaine in 1989, bringing together scattered parcels over 4 hectares. Early on, Didier Dagueneau convinced him to work organically, then biodynamically: the vineyard became Demeter certified in 1999 — a real pioneer! The estate grew over the years; in 1999 his parents handed over their vineyards, bringing the domaine to 17 hectares. The following year, his wife Manuéla joined him. Today the domaine covers 47 hectares: 23 ha of Chenin in Montlouis, 16 ha in Touraine ((with Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Grolleau, Cabernet Franc, Côt and Pineau d’Aunis) and 8 ha in Vouvray. A few words from François Chidaine: "A passionate winemaker, fully aware of the demands of my craft, I work alongside my team, who give their very best each day to produce the finest grapes possible."
A typical Loire red — easy, fruit-forward, and seriously drinkable! Notes of Morello cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry jam. Supple palate with a fresh, lightly tannic finish. The perfect companion for charcuterie or your barbecue!
A standout in the making: an incredible nose—powerful and already well-developed—with notes of white fruit, biscuit, butter and hazelnut; the effects of aging and autolysis are evident. On the palate: volume, richness, with beautiful acidity; this is a wine built for aging.
A captivating nose with notes of Williams pear, almond, and sugarcane... A soft Chenin with 13 grams of residual sugar per liter, but given the complexity and depth of the nose, you’d almost expect more. Fleshy on the palate, with thin and elegant bitters on the finish. What else??!
The nose is complex, with notes of pear, as well as tertiary aromas of undergrowth and chestnut... On the palate, however, it is smooth, light, easy to drink, and very long-lasting; the lingering aroma that follows is simply superb, with endless complexity...
The nose is driven by citrus, white peach, quince, a hint of exotic fruit, and a mineral backbone... remarkably precise! On the palate: endless energy, tension, and volume, wrapped in a lovely richness; the whole is both complex and fresh. A truly beautiful wine.
Real standout, with an expressive and complex nose featuring white flowers, white fruit, and verbena, underpinned by mineral notes and a hint of honey. The palate lives up to the nose, beautiful harmony, with a balanced, graceful texture and an incredibly long, fruity, and pure finish.
Notes of candied citrus fruits, white fruits—especially white peach—and fresh herbs... With a mineral and saline palate, a tight structure, and lively acidity, this is a white wine built for aging ; let it rest in your cellar for just a little while—it will work wonders!
Once again, a success — no surprise, it’s signed Chidaine! A sparkling Chenin all about elegance and finesse, with a precise nose of white flowers, citrus and crisp apple. On the palate: fine, delicate bitters give structure, with lovely minerality and generous effervescence.
Careful — this is seriously good!!! A beautiful bubbly, even more so for the price, with striking aromatic complexity on notes of pear, biscuit, butter — the whole is nicely evolved and vinous. Lively, fresh palate, with a fine, delicate fizz. We love it.
