Loïc Tanguy
Loïc Tanguy is a Breton from Finistère, with a Bordeaux-born mother and a grandfather who was an orchardist in La Réole—and also made wine. Initially destined to become a fighter pilot, he ultimately became a man of the land. He went on to study oenology at the University of Bordeaux, and at 25 joined a cooperage. He quickly became a consultant, working with both small estates and Grand Cru properties. For nearly 30 years, Loïc has refined his vision and helped shape the élevage of other winemakers, and today, through his négociant project Quasar, he puts that expertise into practice (to our great pleasure!). The adventure began with the 2020 vintage, in his cellar in Sainte-Terre, where he produces three cuvées. “I’m a rather non-interventionist winemaker, but with a clear command of the concept,” he says. He loves wines with well-defined structure and precise tannins. And Quasar? These are the brightest points in the universe—metaphorically, a world born from matter. A perfect programme!
