A complex nose with notes of ripe fruit, peony, violet and rose. The palate is all chocolate and spices. Persistent finish... This is a Pinot grown on red clay, and thus yielding a wine of strength and power. Put it in the cellar and forget about for a while.
100% Pinot Noir from a 26-are parcel of 50-year-old vines, planted by massal selection at the Les Caillettes vineyard site, on red clay soil. Cultivated biodynamically, with ploughing of the soil, no chemicals, and harvesting by hand in small crates. Vinification: whole grape bunches, wooden vats, light extraction, some pumping over, a little cap punching, and 14 months maturation on the lees in 3-year-old barrels. Neither filtered, nor fined, and just a micro dose of sulphur at bottling.
