Domaine Chandon de Briailles

Les Valozières - 2017 - François de Nicolay

A complex nose typical of the appellation, with a strongly identifiable character, and notes of black cherry, strawberry compote, rosemary, slightly wild hints of leather, tobacco... Palate: pure and structured, long finish... A very nice cuvée.

Pinot Noir from 60-year-old vines farmed biodynamically and planted on clay-limestone soils on a 28.7-ares plot. All the ploughing is done with horses, which has made the soil more permeable and alive. Yields of 28 hl/ha. Vinification is respectful of the grapes: two weeks of maceration of whole bunches in concrete and conical wooden vats, 18 months of maturation on the lees in 228-litre oak barrels. Bottled without fining or filtration, and only a micro dose of sulphur.
