Gambrinus - 2017 - Clémentine Bouvéron et Gian Marco Antonuzi
Azienda Le Coste
Second vintage for this cuvée (the first being 2010); a cult bottle, rare and precious, the kind of wine you remember years after tasting it. Airy, fragile, bewitching, with notes of berries, rose, strong minerality. Gorgeous.

100% Aleatico from old vines grown organically, with a gobelet pruning: these are the vines that usually go into the Alea Jacta Est cuvée, but which had not reached sufficient maturity in 2017. Manual harvest at the end of September. Gentle maceration (that is closer to an infusion) of the whole bunches for three months, in vats. Soft pressing, three years (!) of aging in 500-liter oak barrels that have seen several wines. Bottled without fining or filtration, without added sufites.

Gian Marco Antonuzi
Gian Marco Antonuzi and Clémentine Bouvéron live in Gradoli, 150 km north of Rome. Clémentine studied oenology and Gian trained under such renowned vignerons as Barral and Pacalet . The young couple settled here in 2004 and started their estate from scratch, the land uncultivated but for a grove of olive trees abandoned for the last 20 years – good news when one doesn't want to inherit...
