Blend of the estate’s grape varieties: Grenache, Merlot, Cinsault, Syrah and Counoise… with the exact proportions kept secret! From old vines planted around Sarrians, on clay-limestone and sandy soils with rolled pebbles. Although not certified organic, the vines are farmed without any chemical products, only using inputs that can be “drunk or breathed.” Manual harvesting and low yields. Vinification follows a natural approach: spontaneous fermentation, gentle extraction, and long ageing in old casks.

Emmanuel Reynaud, child of the 1963 vintage, was the discreet and perfectionist winemaker behind Château Rayas, Château des Tours, and Château de Fonsalette. He was heir to a lineage that began in 1880 with his great-grandfather Albert, and he took over Château Rayas and Château de Fonsalette in 1997 following the death of his uncle Jacques.
