Complex, powerful and highly aromatic nose, unfolding notes of cherry, strawberry, cranberry, anise and forest floor. The palate lives up to the nose, silky, delicate and nuanced, with subtle spice and a beautiful line of acidity. Decanting recommended, with excellent aging potential.

Pinot Noir from vines grown organically and planted in 1971 by botanist Michael Benedict and his friend Richard Sanford, who founded the Sanford & Benedict vineyard located in the Santa Ynez Valley appellation, in the mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean, on silica-rich gravel soils. The grapes were harvested by hand at dawn on the 22nd of September 2021 Vinification: half of the grapes destemmed, cold pre-fermentation maceration, pressing, 20 months of aging in French oak barrels by François Frères (with 50% new oak). Not fined, not filtered.
All of the wines produced by Au Bon Climat sold on our website are imported into France by Vins du Monde.
