Marguerite - 2023 - Vignoble de l’Ecu
Fred Niger
Mineral notes combine with distinctive maritime aromas (seaweed, iodine...), and citrus notes blend into aromas of roots and gentian flowers. The attack is clean and pure, great volume on the mid-palate. Fine, lime-like acidity. Strong saline notes, great freshness, and a beautiful finish.

Never heard of Folle Blanche? Here’s a wine to convince you of this little grape’s big potential. Fred made the decision to reject the consensus view on this often underestimated grape, and to rehabilitate the image of Folle Blanche through care and attention. Theses vines of Folle Blanche are grown biodynamically and planted on a plateau of siliceous clay soils over a gneiss subsoil. Harvested by hand, direct pressing, no clarification, indigenous yeasts, maturation on lees in underground cement vats for 12 months, no fining, no filtration.

Fred bought Vignoble de l'Écu in 2010, with its perfect soils cultivated organically since 1972, then certified biodynamic by DEMETER in 1998. He’s been collaborating with Guy Bossard since 2014, the master of Muscadet. The pairing is simply miraculous. Fred, a novice at winegrowing but an unparalleled taster, knows exactly what he wants and what he intends to do for wine in the Muscadet....
