Flattering, round, and expressive nose, with notes of blackberries, strawberries, redcurrants, white pepper. A smooth attack, the mid-palate is taut yet charming, tannins still tight yet velvety. Excellent volume, rich, deep, delicate, chiselled fruit, notes of sweet spices. Worth decanting.
Fred Niger
Fred bought Vignoble de l'Écu in 2010, with its perfect soils cultivated organically since 1972, then certified biodynamic by DEMETER in 1998. He’s been collaborating with Guy Bossard since 2014, the master of Muscadet. The pairing is simply miraculous. Fred, a novice at winegrowing but an unparalleled taster, knows exactly what he wants and what he intends to do for wine in the Muscadet. Folle Blanche and Melon de Bourgogne have been transformed, along with the estate’s classic cuvées still being made, into very great natural wines. The red grape parcels offer splendid cuvées of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Noir. After all, when your parcels are 30 to 40 years old and have never seen a single drop of pesticides, it would be a shame to deprive yourself! The estate does a lot vinifications using amphorae. Tons of wisdom, knowledge, energy and modernity in the juices. Fred has taken L'Ecu in a new direction, and Muscadet along with it...
Surprising nose, original, and very, very fruity: black cherry, blackberry, and strawberry... simply splendid! Palate: still very tight at this stage, but with great potential; this is a pure, chiselled Cabernet Franc. It's going to be very good, with just a little patience...
A powerful nose, with mineral and citrus notes, white flowers, honeysuckle, and almond. Palate: characteristic of an amphora wine, that is to say quite tense with beautiful power. The juice is nonetheless complex and fruity overall. Creamy, enveloping, and salty finish.
Elegant nose, with pronounced mineral notes, and aromas of lemon, grapefruit, white flowers, dried fruits, almond and toasted aromas. Full-bodied, opulent wine, balanced by its fine acidity and a vibrancy which sustains its equilibrium. Great length and a peppery finish. Must be decanted!
A Syrah with no fuss, no muss, just fruit! The palate is supple and easy, straightforward and direct, a thirst-quenching cuvée to be enjoyed between friends!
A nose of black cherry, sweet spices, and thyme, with minty notes... On the palate: this is some clean, crisp juice – fruity and structured, with fine, sapid tannins, and a lot of purity!
Notes of fig, quince, fresh apricot and bitter orange peel. Clean and pure, very dry, taut wine whose aromas develop mid-palate, becoming only more charming and enjoyable. Smooth tannins and lovely volume. A deep and delicate wine, endowed with chiselled fruit and notes of sweet spices.
On the first sip, the attack is silky smooth. By the mid-palate, it’s all about volume and complexity, power and delicacy. Bright fruit with flavours of small, very ripe black fruits, intense notes of blackberry, of blue flowers, violets and delicate notes of spice. Long finish.
A powerful nose, with notes of yellow apple, cardamom, and citron... The palate is extremely unctuous, creamy and full; huge volume, this is a rich, deep and delicate wine, with a long finish.
A nose with notes of smoke and citrus fruits, white flowers, minerals and a hint of brine. On the palate, this wine boasts lovely volume, salty notes, great tension and freshness, and a long finish. The ideal companion for a dozen oysters at 10 o'clock on a weekend!
