Chuféré - 2024 - Cidrerie de l’Apothicaire
Nolwenn Merrien & Matthieu Huet
Chuféré is a very specific Breton drink, still, whose tradition is being brought back to life by L’Apothicaire — and therefore we’re really happy to share it with you! Notes of apple, honey, greengage, raisin… A great festive drink to surprise your guests, with alcohol levels similar to wine, and a lovely pairing with aged hard cheeses.

A fermented drink made from apple juice and honey. Crafted like a chouchen, but instead of plain apple juice, cider is added to kickstart the honey fermentation. This century-old recipe was passed on to Cidrerie de l’Apothicaire by Patrick Olichon from Guilligomarc’h (Finistère), a beekeeper and chuféré producer. Here, it’s made from a lightly sparkling bittersweet cider base. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts, short time in tank. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no pasteurisation and no added sulphites.
