Matthieu Huet

Matthieu Huet runs the Cidrerie de l'Apothicaire, located in Clohars-Carnoët in Southern Finistère, Brittany. This “local kid” had his first career in healthcare, before founding his estate and setting up in earnest as cider maker in 2018. The choice of Clohars is not insignificant: the small town has a great terroir, historically recognized and renowned in Brittany for its ciders. L'Apothicaire started from scratch: the adventure began by gleaning and buying apples, before taking over 4 ha of old productive orchards, then planting 5 ha of local and ancient varieties. In addition to a fine range of ciders, Matthieu also produces eaux-de-vie (spirits) using an old column still. His approach is deeply rooted in the terroir, while leaving plenty of room for creativity, to offer us original, delicate and above all delicious juices.
