Gin Le Jardin d'été - Citadelle

Citadelle

Citrus on the nose, with lemon and orange zest, along with herbaceous notes of juniper and anise, enhanced by the roundness and rich sweetness of melon. Smooth and round on the palate with great purity, finishing with a hint of menthol that pairs perfectly with the melon’s fruitiness. A lovely surprise—perfect with tonic or in a cocktail!

A French gin made from French whole-wheat alcohol, distilled in small traditional Charente copper stills, in which 19 aromatic botanicals are macerated, such as juniper berries, iris roots, almond, fennel, star anise, lemon and orange peel, cardamom, violet, and Sichuan pepper… For this summer edition, melon, lemon, and yuzu have been added to the blend. The recipe was inspired by the garden of Debbie, the wife of Alexandre Gabriel, the master distiller. Gabriel developed and patented a progressive infusion process that allows each botanical in the gin to be infused according to its specific aromatic profile. A distilled dry gin, bottled with no added sugar.

Citadelle is a Gin produced in the South-West of France since 1996 for Maison Ferrand, precisely at Château de Bonbonnet. With its experience in the world of distillation, Maison Ferrand is also committed to bottling French and local terroir. Indeed, the juniper berries that make up the aromatic framework come from some 9 hectares of junipers planted in front of the Château, i.e. some 2,500 trees! The Citadelle Gin has therefore celebrated its 25th anniversary, and is now widely recognized and rewarded, since it has received more than 60 medals, including "Spirit of the Year" prize by the World Spirits Award in 2017.
