100% Menu Pineau from vines farmed organically, planted in 1968 on rootstock and in 1978 as ungrafted vines, on soils of surface silica with flint and deeper clay with flint. Vinification: direct pressing, fermentation barrels that have seen several wines, with full malolactic conversion. Aged for 15 months in barrels, bottled in Spring 2025 without added sulfur. The Courtois DNA is definitely present! A natural wine without compromise. The label, featuring a butterfly, is a Māori illustration by Heidi Kuka, Julien’s partner.

Julien Courtois, child of the 1976 vintage, is the eldest of two sons born to Claude Courtois , one of the most monumental figures in natural wine. Julien has had his own, separate production for nearly 20 years – before Le Clos de la Bruyère, now GAEC Courtois Kuka – and his approach is the same as his father’s, though with a sensibility all his own.
