A nose of black cherries, almond paste, and hazelnuts... An incredible, dense palate, with depth and length as we’ve perhaps never seen in any other vintage. A true nectar of a wine, highly concentrated, with 100 mg per litre of residual sugar.

100% Barbera from century-old vines farmed biodynamically and planted on marl and limestone soils. The grapes were “passerillé” (left on the vine to dry in the sun and wind in order to concentrate the sugars in the berries) then late harvested by hand. Vinification: seven days of maceration on the skins, followed by racking, three years of maturation in barrels that have seen several wines, and finally five years of ageing in bottles at the estate. Neither fined nor filtered, and no added sulphites. 300 bottles produced. A 37.5-cl bottle.

Stefano Bellotti
Stefano Bellotti was a living legend, Italy’s Pierre Overnoy if you will, settled since 1977 in the hills of Novi Ligure between Alexandrie and Gênes (Piedmont). Stefano was 18 years old when he inherited this family farm which comprised just one hectare of vines. And so, it was from almost nothing that Italy’s father of biodynamic viticulture got his start. He’d begin practicing biodynamics...
