A very expressive nose—one of the hallmarks of Vins de Lavie—with notes of white flowers and dried apricot; it’s hard to recognize the Melon de Bourgogne in a blind tasting! The palate is superb: it glides across the tongue, coats it, and envelops it, with a lovely hint of richness and a phenomenal aromatic finish. A favorite!

100% Melon de Bourgogne from old vines planted on a 65-are plot in Saint-Lumine-de-Clisson, which features granite soils. The vines are cultivated organically using biodynamic practices, phytotherapy, and with great attention to the microbial life of the soil. Hand-harvested and naturally vinified: direct pressing, 35 months of aging on the lees with two stirring of the lees at the start of winter, during the waning moon, on a “flower day.” Unfined and unfiltered, with a low dose of sulfur.
