Voiles Blanches - 2018 - Didier Mouton
Domaine Didier Mouton
An orange robe, and an intense nose – rich, with the aromatic palette of a sweet liquoreux wine, but with some minerality and fennel. Palate: a dry wine with lovely bitter and mineral notes, and great length. A wine truly from another planet, perfect for meditation.

A cuvée composed of 97% Grenache Gris, and 3% Grenache Blanc, from 88% of the vines planted in the 50s and 12% planted in 2013. Manual harvest on the 25th of August, yields around 8 hl/ha, from a plot of just 12 ares, on a sandy schist soil. Vinification is done in a unique way: slow pressing for two days (essentially a short maceration while pressing), maturation for 2 years in old barrels that have seen 10 wines, all with ZERO additives. Bottled from the 22nd of September to the 17th of October 2020, with only 145 bottles produced.

With a little more than 1 hectare, producing 800 bottles a year, we are talking here about an impassioned gardener. Didier is 100% self-taught, a pure man of the earth, a farmer engrossed in a slightly mad undertaking. A humble man,...
