Verdesse - 2024 - Domaine des Rutissons

Laurent Fondimare & Wilfrid Debroize

A rare grape variety endemic to this part of Savoie, offering a powerful, highly perfumed nose with citrus and stony notes. The palate follows beautifully, ultra-mineral and mouthwatering, with loads of flavour. A deliciously long, saline finish. One to pair with a creamy dish!

100% Verdesse from organically farmed vineyards: 30 ares of old vines and 2 hectares of vines from 9 to 15 years old, planted on clay-limestone soils in the Chartreuse Valley. This is an Alpine grape variety that had nearly disappeared in France; just 15 years ago, only two winemakers still had it (including Les Rutissons)! The grapes were harvested by hand, direct pressing, fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks on fine lees for 6 months. Bottled at the end of February 2025, approximately 30 mg/liter of total SO2.
