Two winemakers, two grape varieties brought together in this bottle. 50% Malbec from 35-year-old vines planted on two parcels with limestone soils, and 50% Syrah from 30-year-old vines grown on the clay-limestone soils of the parcel that also produces the much-loved Petit Ours cuvée. Organic viticulture and hand harvesting throughout. Natural vinification at Matthieu Barret’s winery, ageing in concrete tanks for 11 months, bottled after tangential filtration, with 2 g/hl of sulphur added at bottling.
Fabien Jouves
Fabien Jouves represents the golden generation of Cahors. This young and dynamic vigneron settled in 2006 on the highest slopes of Cahors, where he took over his family’s estate of 20 hectares. Fabien, with his Prince Harry-like air about him, is the pretender to the throne in the Realm of Malbec, not to forget the winning-award for his mullet!
